Where tradition meets tomorrow
Japan had been high on our bucket list for years, and somehow it still managed to exceed every expectation. Tokyo is unlike anywhere else we've visited. It's fast-paced and energetic, yet somehow remains incredibly clean, organised and welcoming. Every neighbourhood feels like discovering a completely different city.
Some of our favourite moments came from simply wandering without a plan. One minute we'd be surrounded by neon lights, designer stores and busy crossings, the next we'd stumble across a peaceful shrine, a tiny family-run restaurant or a quiet backstreet that felt completely untouched by time.
Leaving Tokyo for Mount Fuji was the perfect contrast. Trading skyscrapers for open landscapes and waking each morning to Japan's most iconic mountain reminded us just how diverse this country really is. Experiencing both sides of Japan made this one of our favourite trips in Asia.
